LA COLORIST MEETUP #8

We are pleased to announce that for LA Colorist Meetup we are going to be honored to welcome two specials guests: Chris Clark a Netflix chief color scientist, person who is the most responsible for industry-wide adoption of HDR and color managed workflow.  And the fastest rising star of the color hall of fame - a multi-talented Walter Volpatto, who after having graded Star Wars has delivered an incredible art-house look for ‘The Green Book’ an Oscar winner for the best movie in 2019.

Chris Clark - a former Sony Pictures and Deluxe Color Scientist was at the helm of Netflix transformation to HDR and color management that has enabled 120 million people around the world to enjoy probably the best-looking TV images ever. It is no doubt that Netflix has pushed the bar high when it comes to image quality but what are they planning for the future…

Walter Volpatto - the man behind the color of ‘The Last Jedi’ and ‘Dunkirk’ needs no introduction. This will be a great opportunity to get to know Walter up close and personal. Walter’s guest appearance and talk on his work on movie ‘Green Book’ is promising to be the most remembered guest appearance at the Colorist Meetup.

NY COLORIST MEETUP

NY COLORIST MEETUP with DARIO BIGI - a colorist who is living in the future and IGOR MARTINOVIC - the master of shadows and dark grades.

REGISTER: https://bit.ly/2VnG7s6

DARIO BIGI - CSI

Dario is a colorist that already today is living the future. Two years ago we have predicted that color grading is moving in direction of remote work and Dario has done exactly that. He has managed to successfully move from working in edit bays to working in his Manhattan loft with top clients completely remotely. We will be chatting to Dario to hear his story, how he has made this transition and in and outs of the remote workflow.

IGOR MARTINOVIC - DOP ( House of Cards, The Night Of )

The recent fiasco of a very dark episode of 'Game of Thrones' has made us reach to DOP Igor Martinovic a master of dark imagery. He is a DP behind the darkest HBO series The Night Of and many other shows where he was able to portray nigh perfectly. There is a lot of mystery involved in this process and we can't wait to hear Igor's approach.

LA COLORIST MEETUP APRIL 2019

This month we are focusing on the process of color for dailies as well as showing exciting new developments from the NAB.

DAVINCI RESOLVE 16 - What is new with JOSH PETOK, CSI

JOSH PETOK - Is back! Yes, Davinci has released a massive new update to Resolve only last week and Josh is back to do his regular Tips and Trick session that will focus only on Color Grading tools update. It is always a pleasure to see Josh in action and this is probably the fastest way for all of us to learn and get into grips with all new tools.

One trend that has dominated this year so far was continued adaptation of Color Management into production workflows. The process of Look creation before the start of production and look management throughout the dailies grading process seems to be gaining even more importance.

CONVERSATION WITH JEFF OLM
Our special guest for this month is Jeff Olm, a colorist that started in the business as a cameraman and editor and moved to work as Flame/VFX artist on movies like Fifth Element, Titanic and later Die Hard, Zodiac, Spider-Man, and Armageddon. He was working as a colorist for Dreamworks where he graded Madagascar 3, Puss in the Boots, How to Train Your Dragon and Kung Fu Panda.Jeff was always willing to experiment and master new technologies and was one of the first people to grade stereoscopic 3D or 360 VR. He is also one of the first to take the process of dailies to the next level while working on movies like Revenant. In conversation with Jeff, we hope to discover intricate details of the way he works and how he sees industry progressing in the future.

BILL FEIGHTNER - COLORFRONT - DAILIES WHAT IS NEXT
Colorfront is the ultimate industry leader when it comes to systems for dailies processing. Their systems were adopted by most large studio productions and have set the bar when it comes to quality and speed of transcoding. They have been hard at work to create the next generation of their dailies system as a continuation to already fantastic HDR workflow that they have developed in partnership with AJA.  We are going to get an exclusive preview of what they have planned for dailies next. This is going to be a unique chance for us to get up, close and personal with creators of Colorfront dailies and hear from their color scientist how he sees the future.
